800 policemen deployed to maintain law and order on oath-taking day

Beltangady, June 24: Obviously, CM B. S. Yeddyurappa has changed his mind about taking an oath before Lord Manjunatha of Dharmasthala, but has decided to keep everybody in suspense by announcing that he will reveal his final decision regarding the matter on June 26 Sunday.

 

The number of devotees flocking to Dharmasthala on Mondays is more because Monday is considered to be an auspicious day for the worship of Lord Manjunatha. Several ministers, BJP activists, and well wishers are expected to be present at the temple to support CM B. S. Yeddyurappa.

The district administration also expects several JD (S) workers and JD (S) sympathizers to be present at the venue on Monday to support their leader Kumaraswamy, who is also expected to take oath before Lord Manjunatha. The number of people who will flock to witness the event is also expected to be quite high.

An apprehensive district administration has therefore deployed 800 policemen to maintain peace and law and order at the venue on Monday.

The political leaders, who have already been admonished by a number of spiritual leaders, might not take an oath before the deity. They might just offer worship. However, the police and the district administration consider it to be their duty to be prepared to protect the people and the political leaders in case of any untoward incidents. Should anything happen to threaten the safety of the political leaders, the police department and the district administration of DK will have to take the blame.

The media, which had made elaborate preparations to telecast the oath-taking ceremony, is quite sure that there will be no oath-taking ceremony. But the public is still interested in the visit of these leaders to the temple town.
