4 years after crime, Mulki cops arrest murder accused

 Mangalore, Oct 19, 2013 :  The Mulki police have arrested one person in connection with the murder of  Mohan Ranya at Kinnigoli in the year 2009.

The arrest was made at Chikmagalur and the accused has been identified as Mohammad Asif (26) who hailed from Guttakadu but resided at Bajpe. He was  produced before the Moodbidri Court on October 18, Friday and remanded to judicial custody.

Ranya was killed while he was on way home  by some assailants  near Moorukaveri in the year 2009   during a communal clash. Investigations had revealed that Ranya was killed just because he was spotted donning a saffron  lungi.

Another accused in the case Isubu from Mudur has already been arrested. Asif however is considered the prime accused in the case. It is learnt, he had fled the nation after the crime and was arrested by the police based on a tip off.
