3 arrested for looting Mumbai jewellery merchants

 Mangalore, oct 9, 2013 : Barke police have arrested  three persons including a  man from Uttar Pradesh on the charges of  looting two jewellery merchants from Mumbai who had come to Mangalore for business purposes.

The two merchants namely Narayan Lal Kumavat and Mangilal J Kumavat had come to Mangalore on October 6 to sell  silver and gold jewellery which they had bought in Mumbai. Police have seized valuables worth Rs 7.8 lakhs, a Swift car and a Pulsar bike from them.

Those arrested are  Anil Kumar Sharma (38) of Jeppinamogaru who hails from Uttar Pradesh,   Vijesh Kumar (25) of Jeppu Kudupady and   Richmond of Vamanjoor.

The Mumbai  jewelers  had come to Mangalore to sell the jewellery to Anil Sharma and were on way to Anil Sharma’s house in a car. As the car was passing through.Anil Sharma had begun to smoke and the driver objected the same.

Then, he asked the driver to stop the car so that he could smoke in the open. Meanwhile, the driver said the car was not starting and all the three inside began to push the car, when  the man in the driver’s seat Vijesh sped in the car along with the jewellery.

Police had arrested Anil Sharma within 48 hours of the incident, while the other two were arrested later on, based on the revelations of Sharma.
