Mangalore, Jan 22, 2012: The Mangalore local centre of the Institution of Engineers will organize the 27th National Convention of Environmental Engineers on the theme of “green technology” on Jan 24 Tuesday. 


Balakrishna, the chairman of the organizing committee, told reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Deepa Comfort that the national convention of the local centre of the Instituion of Engineers is an annual event held with the objective of achieving technical and professional growth through intensive technical content and mutual interaction.

Speaking about the objectives of the event, he said that it aims to establish a bond between the institution and its members and policy makers, industries, and academicians. 


The event will comprise a national seminar, a memorial lecture, talks, felicitation for eminent engineers, IEI Young Engineers Awards, technical visits, a technical exhibition, and a workshop. 


Revealing further details, he said that N. Vinay Hegde, the chancellor of Nitte University, will inaugurate the convention, and Dr. Vinod Tare, the professor of civil engineering will be the guest of honor. Mr. A. K. Sinha, the chairman of the Environment Engineering Division Board, IEI, will preside over the event. Dr. Vinod Tare will deliver the N. V. Modak Memorial Lecture. 


Further, he said that eminent engineers H. Hanumanulu, M. M. Kamath, and Dr. Mhaisalkar will be felicitated on the occasion. The IEI Young Engineer Awards will be conferred on the trio in recognition and appreciation of their achievements and contributions. 


Ashok Alva, Vishwanath Puthran, Sathish Rao Idya, and S. Shrihari were present at the press conference.
