Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2026: The 16th edition of the floodlit Jaya–Vijaya Jodukere Kambala, organised in memory of Mankutotaguttu and Nadajeguttu, will be held on February 14 and 15 at Jappinamogaru in the city, said Kambala Committee Honorary President D. Vedavyas Kamath.
He was speaking at a press conference held at a private hotel in Mangaluru. He said the 16th year of the Kambala will be inaugurated on February 14 at 8.30 am by Veda Murthy Brahma Shri Vittaldas Tantrivarya, following the blessings of Shri Anantapadmanabha Ashranna. Founder-President of the Karavali College Group of Institutions, S. Ganesh Rao, will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
A public programme will be held at 7 pm, which will be attended by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly U.T. Khader, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, along with several public representatives, actors and actresses.
He said more than 150 pairs of buffaloes are expected to participate this year. Winners will be awarded gold medals along with a permanent trophy.
Honorary advisor of the committee, Jappugudde Guttu Bhujangetti, and Kambala Committee President Mankutotaguttu Anil J. Shetty said priority will be given to time management in the Kambala. The Jodukere Kambala and Tiruvailu Kambala are strictly adhering to scheduled timings, and efforts will be made to ensure greater emphasis on time discipline in other Kambala events in the coming days.
Kambala Committee Working President Veena Mangala, Praveen Chandra Alva Tiruvail Guttu, Shakeen Shetty, Sandeep Shetty, Nishan Poojary, honorary advisor Bhujanga Shetty, publicity committee convenor J. Nagendra, and others were present at the press conference.
