‌DC calls for eco-friendly, peaceful Ganeshotsava celebrations

Mangaluru, Sep 15, 2023: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has asked officials and organisers of Ganeshotsava celebrations to celebrate the festival in a peaceful and cordial atmosphere and also in an eco-friendly way.

He was presiding over a meeting of officials and leaders of Ganeshotsava Samithis at his office on September 14, Thursday.

He sought the co-operation of everyone in the holding of Ganeshotsava peacefully and said all public Ganeshotsava celebration committees must secure permission under Single Window system. In case of rural areas, organizers have to apply for permission from the panchayats or local administrative bodies while in Mangaluru, permission must be sought from the MCC.

 The permission of respective police stations must be sought for using of loudspeakers, he said.

He also said that Plaster of Paris made Ganesha idols are not allowed. He also said such idols and also painted idols are completely banned from being immersed in water bodies.
