Srinagar, June 22, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a significant breakthrough in the Pahalgam attack case with the arrest of two individuals accused of harbouring the terrorists responsible for the horrific assault that claimed the lives of 26 tourists and left 16 others seriously injured.
The arrested men, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam, have reportedly disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack. According to the NIA, the terrorists were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Investigations revealed that Parvaiz and Bashir knowingly provided food, shelter, and logistical support to the assailants at a seasonal hut (dhok) in Hill Park, Pahalgam, prior to the attack. The terrorists, armed and prepared, carried out the assault on unsuspecting tourists, allegedly targeting individuals based on their religious identity, marking the incident as one of the most heinous in recent times.
Earlier, the NIA had identified approximately 20 overground workers (OGWs) in the Kashmir Valley who were allegedly involved in facilitating the movement and operations of terrorist groups. The agency continues its efforts to dismantle the network supporting such attacks.
Further investigations are underway, and the NIA is committed to bringing all those involved to justice.
