Former UK PM Rishi Sunak, wife Akshata Murty spotted at third wave coffee in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, November 7, 2024: Pictures of former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, during a recent visit to a Bengaluru coffee shop have gone viral on social media.

While Sunak was seen in a crisp white shirt and black trousers, Murty donned a pastel-coloured kurta. Sunak served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2022 to 2023.

Before visiting Third Wave Coffee Shop in Bangalore, the former Prime Minister and his wife offered prayers at Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar on Wednesday. The couple was accompanied by Sunak’s in-laws — Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty, who is a Rajya Sabha member.

Photos of the couple seeking blessings of Guru Raghavendra Swamy have surfaced on social media platforms. They also participated in the temple’s traditional rituals during their visit on Tuesday.

In honour of the month of Kartika, Sunak lit a lamp and performed a special puja in the presence of Guru Raya. Later, R. K. Vadindracharya, the senior manager of Sri Math, blessed garments belonging to Raya.

Sudha Murty’s family are devotees of Raya. Sudha Murty is a true devotee of Raghavendra Swami. She often says, “Raya’s service is my worship", stating that she finds devotion in it.

The family frequently serves at the Raya Math. Sudha Murty’s husband, Narayan Murthy, is also a devotee of Raya. Naturally, the couple’s daughter also shares this devotion.

Sunak, of Punjabi origin, is known for his religious inclination. Even after becoming Prime Minister of UK, he maintained his religious connection with India.

Influenced by his wife, Akshata, Sunak became a devotee of Raya. As part of his devotion, he fasts every Thursday, eating only at night.
