CBI arrests Congress MLA Anil Lad in mining scam

Bengaluru, July 15, 2015: CBI officers arrested Congress MLA Anil Lad in Bellary on Wednesday. He has been accused of exporting 15,000 metric tonnes of iron ore illegally.
The alleged crime took place in 2010. Anil lad represents Bellary city in the Assembly. The illegal export of iron ore from Belikeri port in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district was exposed by former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde, who in his report, had said 7.74 million tonnes of iron ore were illegally exported between 2006-2007 and 2010-11, causing huge loss to the exchequer.
Details are awaited.
