Udaipur, Feb 28, 2026: In a celebration that beautifully blended heritage and elegance, actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda chose tradition over extravagance for their wedding, offering a refreshing reminder of the timeless essence of Indian customs.
Hosted at ITC Mementos Udaipur, the ceremony unfolded in two parts, honouring both families’ cultural roots. The morning rituals reflected Deverakonda’s Telugu heritage, while the evening paid tribute to Mandanna’s Kodava traditions from Coorg.
Kodava weddings are known for their intimate, community-led nature, with a strong emphasis on ancestry, nature and family blessings. Staying true to tradition, Mandanna wore a rust silk sari with a bold red border, custom-designed by Anamika Khanna. The sari featured antique gold embroidery with temple motifs and sacred geometry. Draped in the distinctive Kodava style, with pleats at the back, the attire symbolised strength and readiness, reflecting the community’s martial legacy.
Deverakonda arrived in traditional regalia, dressed in an ivory dhoti silhouette paired with a vermillion angavastram. His outfit drew inspiration from Hyderabad’s textile heritage, incorporating forest and temple-inspired motifs that symbolised power and lineage. Styled by Ami Patel, the groom embraced classic aesthetics, especially through his elaborate jewellery.
The couple’s gold ornaments were crafted by Shree Jewellers. Deverakonda wore layered haars, cuffs, bajuband, earrings, an anklet and a broad oddiyanam belt. His jewellery featured intricate nakshi engraving with elephant motifs symbolising wisdom and tiger elements representing agility. He completed the look with a traditional kasu mala and a long haram.
Mandanna adorned herself with temple jewellery, including a choker layered with harams, jhumkas, champasaralu, mathapatti, bangles, bajuband, waist belt, anklets, a nose pin, hathphool and the distinctive jada billa woven through her hair.
Several rituals added deeper meaning to the ceremony. Mandanna made her bridal entry holding a tender coconut, known as kobbari bondam, symbolising prosperity and purity. During the mangala snanam (holy bath), black dishti chukka dots were applied to ward off the evil eye. While Mandanna opted for minimal mehendi, Deverakonda applied alta to his hands and feet as part of the pelli koduku ceremony.
Both wore basikam—a gold ornament tied with turmeric-laced thread—along with matching pelli bottu tilaks, marking their transition into married life. A ceremonial curtain, known as addutera, separated the couple until the jeelakarra bellam ritual, where they placed a paste of cumin and jaggery on each other’s heads, symbolising unity and inseparability.
The wedding was thoughtfully conceptualised and executed by RVR Eventz Design, ensuring that the grandeur complemented rather than overshadowed tradition.
At a time when weddings often lean toward opulence and spectacle, Mandanna and Deverakonda’s celebration stood out for foregrounding cultural heritage, demonstrating that tradition and modernity can coexist in perfect harmony.
