Kasaragod: 12-year-old boy found hanging in labour quarters

Kasaragod, July 20, 2026: A 12-year-old boy was found hanging inside a labour quarters while his parents had gone to the market to buy household essentials. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Bedrampalla under the Badiadka Police Station limits in Kasaragod district.

The deceased has been identified as Srihari (12).


Boy death

Srihari was a Class 7 student at Banputhadka AUP School and the son of Prakashan and Sunita, who work as rubber plantation tappers. The family, originally from Adoor in Pathanamthitta district, had been living in the labour quarters at a rubber plantation in Bedrampalla for the past few months.

According to police, Srihari’s parents had gone to the market on Sunday afternoon to purchase household necessities. When they returned, they found the front door of their quarters locked from the inside. After repeatedly calling out to him and receiving no response, they broke open the door.

They found Srihari hanging inside one of the rooms. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The body has been shifted to the Kasaragod General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Badiadka police visited the scene, registered a case, and have launched an investigation into the incident.
