Yeshwanthpur-Mangalore-Karwar Express derails near Yedekumari

Yeshwanthpur-Mng train Mangalore, Jan 04: The Yeshwanthpur-Mangalore-Karwar Express train, coming from Bangalore to Karwar derails in between Kadagaravalli and Yedekumari stations in Western Ghat area this morning, January 4, 2013.

The accident spot is very remote area on the Bangalore- Mangalore railway line. The passengers are stranded without food and water. Sources informed that 3 coaches and engine were derailed in the accident. No serious casualties reported yet.

Consequent on the derailment of Train No.16517 Yeswantpur – Kannur Express in Mysore Division of South Western Railway, the following trains are partially/fully cancelled as indicated below:

Train No. 16517 Yeswantpur – Kannur Express of 4th January 2013 has been partially cancelled between Sakleshpur and Kannur

Train No.16523 Mangalore Central – Karwar Express of 4th January 2013 has been cancelled

Train No.16524 Karwar – Mangalore Central Express and Train No.16518 Kannur – Yeswantpur Express of 4th January 2013 have been cancelled for want of rakes

Train No.16515 Yeswantpur – Karwar Express of 4th January 2013 and Train No.16516 Karwar – Yeswantpur Express of 5th January 2013 have been cancelled for want of rakes.
