Mangalore, Apr 22, 2012: Vidhwan Panja Bhaskar Bhat, a member of the Karnataka State Religious Council, said in a lecture on the Koti Namarchane, which is currently being held at Shri Gopalakrishna Temple in Shaktinagar, that tulsi twigs are holy and that innumerable gods reside in this plant, which purifies our mind and environment. Offering tulsi leaves to the deity therefore drives away all evil forces and evil thoughts and creates an environment of health and nobility. 


He was speaking on the occasion of a religious meeting held on April 20 Friday on the premises of Shri Gopalakrishna Temple, which is conducting the Koti Namarchane as part of its 5th anniversary celebrations.

Further speaking on the tulsi, he said that tulsi leaves can appease the deity, who then showers blessings on the devotees. The consumption of tulsi leaves improves resistance and cleanses environmental pollution, he added. 


The chief guests of the event were Vedamurthy Uleyattaya Vishnu Asra, the president of the confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India; P. M. Razack, the managing trustee of Lord Mahaganapathi Temple at Urwa Store; Surendra Rao; and Giselle D. Mehta. 


Events such as Panchamrutabhisheka, Ganapathi Homa, mass prayers, Tulabhara, and Maha Puja were held on the occasion. 


K. C. Naik, the managing trustee of the temple, and Saguna C. Naik and Sanjeeth Naik, the trustees, were also present. 


Prof. M. B. Puranik, the member of the religious council, who is also the president of the Koti Namarchane Samithi, delivered the welcome address.
