Mangaluru, Aug 15, 2022: A flex board mentioning Freedom Fighter Veer Savarkar Circle, with an image of Savarkar  on one of the pillars of the Suratkal flyover has sparked off a controversy.

Following objection raised by many including SDPI Suratkal unit, the MCC officials removed the banner  after MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar issued an order to that effect.

Meanwhile, some youth were seen displaying Tipu Sultan circle flex at the spot.

MLA Dr Bharath Shetty said there is a proposal to name the Suratkal Circle after Veer Savarkar with the permission of MCC.
