Varsha R. wins medals at the inter-zonal level

Mangalore, Sep 25, 2012 : Athlete Varsha R. won a gold medal and a bronze medal in the 3-day Inter Zonal National Athletics Championship, which came to an end on Monday in Pune.

Varsha, who represented Karnataka in the championship, won the gold medal by finishing the 200m race in just 26.19 seconds. She won the bronze medal by finishing 400m in 1:01 seconds.

In a telephonic conversation with The Hindu, the young athlete said that she wants to move into international events the following year.

Varsha studies in St. Aloysius PU College.

Dinesh Kunder, Varsha’s coach, said that she is too young to make any serious decisions at present, but he has a goal for her, which he wants to keep secret right now. He said that he is now focusing on teaching her the best way to handle publicity.
