The accused is Keshav Suvarna (50), President of Hejamady unit of VHP and  Managing Committee Member of the local Mahalingeshwara Temple. Sources said Suvarna who   is the owner of the Suvarna Fancy and Footwear had harassed the girls aged seven and six who had come to his shop.

He has also been charged of showing the girls blue film clips  from his cell phone and revealing his private parts to them when they had come to buy some fancy goods from the shop.

The shocked girls rushed home and informed their family members who along with neighbours and other locals arrived at the shop. Though Suvarna tried to escape, he was chased, caught and handed over to Padubidri police.

Sources said Suvarna was once earlier charged with mentally harassing a married woman in 2012 by telephoning her and speaking in obscene language. It is said he got her phone number after introducing himself as an LIC agent.

Though he was arrested in the case he was out on bail. The VHP which  had then come out with a statement that it had nothing to do with Suvarna, it is said he had continued to be the president of the local unit of the organisation.

Sources said he was even  accused of sexually harassing a Dalit woman a few years ago.
