Udupi : Six of family convicted in murder attempt case

Udupi, Mar 22, 2013  : In a rare case, the district sessions court has sentenced six members of a family to 12 years of imprisonment  for attempting to murder a person and his family members in 2009.

 Those convicted are Nainesh, Sudarshan, Subhash Nayak, Nalin, his wife, Santosh and mother Sunanda Bai. All of them have been convicted of attempting to kill one Vincent Pais and his parents.

All the six had nurtured vengeance against Nainesh and his family after Nainesh had co-operated with the police who were investigating into a case  wherein Nainesh was accused of bringing a girl from Bangalore  in late 2008 to his house. The Bangalore police who investigated the case,  sought the help of Vincent in January 2009 had with his assistance had been able to  locate Nainesh. The girl was then sent back to her home in Bangalore.

This incident had led to hatred between the two families and Nainesh and his family  had  attacked Vincent at his house on January 8,2009. Nainesh  even attacked  Vincent’s parents Luis and Christina Pais who tried to protect their son. All the three had to be hospitalized with Vincent sustaining serious injuries.

There were as many as 12 witnesses in this case.
