ULB poll results will have no impact on assembly elections:CT Ravi

Mangalore, Mar 18, 2013: DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Higher Education CT Ravi has said that the results of the Urban Local Body polls are not an indicator of the results of the ensuing assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on March 17, Sunday, he said the ULB results will have no impact on the assembly results and added this has already been proved in case of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. In Uttar Pradesh if the Samjwadi Party won the assembly elections, the BJP gained power in the local body polls held later on, Ravi recalled and added in Delhi   the Congress rose to power in the assembly elections, while it was the BJP which won the local body elections. The same trend will be repeated in Karnataka, Ravi predicted.

Claiming that Yeddyurappa’s KJP was not the reason for the setback of the BJP, he however said some of the BJP seats have been grabbed by the KJP. The BJP will surely emerge victorious in the assembly election, Ravi exuded confidence.

At the same time, Ravi made it clear that he was not an aspirant for the State BJP Presidentship and said the party leadership would take a decision regarding the appointment at an appropriate time.
