Kadaba: Youth arrested for using AI to create fake hall ticket for police recruitment physical test

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Oct 2, 2026: Barkе police have arrested a 22-year-old youth from Kadaba for allegedly misusing AI technology to create a fake hall ticket and attempting to appear for the physical test for the recruitment of Civil Police Constables (CPC).

The arrested accused has been identified as Yajnesh B.J. Rai (22), a resident of Bedraje House in Kodimbala village, Kadaba taluk.

Fake doc

The incident occurred during the 2026 Civil Police Constable recruitment physical endurance and physical standards test (ET & PST) for Dakshina Kannada district, held at Mangaluru’s Mangala Stadium on September 28.

According to police, Yajnesh produced a hall ticket bearing number CPC 5225446 at the registration desk. When officials checked his details in the software provided by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), neither his name nor application number was found on the 1:5 eligible candidates’ list.

Suspecting something amiss, officials examined the document closely and found that it was allegedly fake.

Failed written test, allegedly used AI to alter hall ticket

During interrogation, police allegedly found that Yajnesh had not qualified in the written examination. However, with the intention of appearing for the physical test, he allegedly obtained the original hall ticket of another candidate who had qualified and used AI technology to edit the candidate’s name and other details.

He then allegedly created a fake hall ticket containing his own details.

Police said a check of his mobile phone revealed digital evidence directly linked to the editing and creation of the fake hall ticket.

Police team visits xerox shop in Kadaba

Based on a complaint filed by Prakash Rudrappa Hoovina, Assistant Administrative Officer at the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police’s office, Barkе police registered Crime No. 87/2026 under Sections 336(1), 336(3) (forgery) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The accused was produced before a court, and further investigation is underway.

As part of the investigation to trace the source from where the fake hall ticket was printed, a Barkе police team visited Kadaba and conducted an inspection and mahazar at a local xerox/cyber shop, police said.
