Tiranga Yatra disrupted, BJP youth workers return home

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, January 28, 2011: A group of activists from the DK BJP Youth Wing, who had embarked on a train journey to Kashmir to fly the national flag, were turned back to Mangalore by the railway and police officials of Maharashtra and arrived at Mangalore Central Railway Station at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Friday.

The local leaders of the BJP warmly welcomed them and took them to the district office of the party, where they had a meeting with Sangh Parivar leaders.

This group formed part of a larger group of 1,500 activists from all over the state, who were scheduled to meet other party workers from different states for the BJP’s Tiranga Yatra to Jammu and Kashmir on Jan 26.

Unfortunately for the BJP workers, the police and railway department of Maharashtra successfully turned their special train back to Karnataka during the dawn of Jan 23, Sunday.

When the special train stopped at Sarola, the authorities blacked out the entire railway station, and took advantage of the darkness to detach the engine of the train and to attach it to the rear. Two extra bogies holding 150 personnel of the Railway Protection Force were attached to the train, which began its journey back to Karnataka at around 1:30 a.m.

Most of the BJP workers were fast asleep at this time, and it was too late when they realized that they had been cheated.
