Mangalore, July 24, 2012 : A gang of thieves broke into Shree Ramalinga Chowdeshwari Temple in Emmekere early in the morning of July 24, Tuesday and stole several gold and silver ornaments.
According to reliable sources, the temple was broken into after 8:30 p.m. on July 23, Monday.
Chandrashekar, the temple priest, noticed the theft when he came to the temple at 5:30 a.m. today.
The thieves stole 5kgs silver from the entrance to the Garbagudi and a gold chain, a silver crown, a silver trishul, a nose ornament, and other ornaments belonging to the deity. A total of 7kgs silver, 2 sovereigns gold, and Rs. 20,000 cash were also stolen.
The Pandeshwar police registered a case.
