Supritha, Vincent, Akshata win Commonwealth gold medals

Mangalore, Dec 20, 2011 : Supritha of SDM College Ujire,Vincent Prakash Carlo, and Akshata of Alva’s College Moodubidri have won gold medals at the Commonwealth Unequipped Power Lifting and Bench Press Championship 2011 held in London on Dec 15 – 18.

Vincent Prakash Carlo won gold medals in the bench press category while Supritha and Akshata won in the power lifting category.

Vincent Carlo, Supritha, and Akshatha attended a final conditioning coaching camp in New Delhi on Nov 27 just before the championship.

Akshata of Bola is a final year student of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in Alva’s College Moodubidri. Supritha of Mangalore is a III B.Com. student in SDM College Ujire, and Vincent Carlo of Nanthoor works in the Excise Department.

Vincent Carlo has participated in a number of power lifting, body building, and bench press events. He has emerged as the runner-up at national-level bench pressing selection trails held in Jamshedpur.

Supritha has to her credit the first place in the junior level 72-kg South India Nationals in Coimbatore.
