Mangalore, Apr 11, 2012: Haji Yenepoya Abdullah Kunhi inaugurated the Manavatha Samavesha organized by the Karnataka Sunni Unions Federation at Town Hall on April 11 Wednesday. Qazi P. M. Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, the president of the State Jamiathul Ulema, presided over the event.
In his benedictory address delivered on the occasion, Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt said that the Manavatha Yatra, which is to commence at Mangalore, will convey an excellent message of humanity and harmony to the people. Expressing concern over the rising love for violence among people, he said that the only unifying factor in human life is faith and belief in god and urged people to live in unity and harmony.
Further, he said that human welfare is possible when people from all religions pledge to live in peace and harmony. He also spoke of the need to keep politics and religion separate in order to achieve the goal of communal harmony.
Vicar General Fr. Denis Prabhu said on the occasion that all people must live like children of one god, not just in theory, but also in practice. Stating that god is present in peace, he said that people must live and let live in peace.
Speaking on the occasion, Khamarul Ulema Kanthapuram A. P. Abubakker Musliyar, the president of the All India Sunni Jamiathul Ulema, said that people of one religion must refrain from insulting the faith of the other, which is the major cause of hatred among different religious communities. He urged people to practice their faith and accept the best values from other religions for overall social development.
