Sullia: Property dispute culminates in murder

Sullia, April 3, 2013: A property dispute within a family culminated in the murder of a youth by his very own uncle at Bollur in Aletty village on April 2, Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sadashiva Naik (26) from Bellampare, while the accused is his paternal uncle Narayana Naik who worked as an attender in the Rotary School at Sullia.

The two families which resided in separate houses in the same piece of land had a longstanding property dispute ever since Narayana Naik had got transferred in his name a land belonging to the family taking advantage of the fact that his elder brother Appaiah Naik was an illiterate.

According to Satish, the brother of Sadashiva Naik, the two had engaged into a quarrel over property dispute which culminated in the murder of Sadashiva Naik. The quarrel cropped up after Narayana Naik felled a tree in their land. Even the daughter of Narayana Naik   sustained injuries in the process.

Though a seriously injured Sadashiva was immediately rushed to the hospital, he was declared brought dead. It is learnt, the deceased Sadashiva was married just last year.

Police have arrested Narayana Naik. However, the daughter of the accused has claimed that she and her father was attacked by a gang of seven all of a sudden.
