Mangalore, May 17: A bevy of celebrities including Bollywood star Sohail Khan (Salman Khan’s brother), music director Gurukiran and others descended on at Shasthavu Sri Bhootanatheshwara Temple at Mijar to take part in the Punarpratishta (Reinstallation of deity) and Brahmakalashabhisheka Mahotsava celebrations.

The main event Bimba Pratista (installation of deity in preparation for the grand finale, the Brahmakalasha in 19th May) which took place on Sunday morning was followed by a grand stage programme in the evening. Earlier the religious ceremony was held at the temple with great religious fervour under the directions of vaidics B K Subrahmanya Tantri and Rama Tantri. 


Bollywood actor, Sohail Khan, industrialist and renowned political leader of Maharashtra Avinash Adhik, district in-charge minister Krishna Palemar, home minister V S Acharya, eminent singer and music director Gurukiran and mimicry artist Dayanand among others took part in the celebrations.


Dressed in the traditional saffron ‘mundu’ for the occasion, Sohail Khan said that he was amazed at the culture and scenic beauty of Mangalore. He described it as a wonderful and new experience to him. 


Avinash Adhik lauded the efforts of brahmakalashotsava committee secretary and Mudabettu family member Vijayanath Shetty and each one associated with the renovation of the temple.


The entertainment extravaganza was staged by talented artistes and troupes from the state. The musical variety through ‘Gurukiran Nite’, led by Guru Kiran enthralled the audience.


President of the renovation committee Mijarguttu Anand Alva, Brahmakalashotsava committee President Jeevandhar Kumar, temple administrative in-charge Mundabettu Guttu Jayaram Shetty, architect B Padmanabh Rai and Pramukh Rai were also present.


Vijayanath Shetty welcomed the gathering. Manohar Prasad, Chief of news bureau, Udayavani compered the programme. Kanthappa Shetty, member of Mudabettu family proposed the vote of thanks.
