Mangalore, October 4: Sr. Lilly D’Almeida celebrated her 25th anniversary of life as a Sister of Charity of St. Bartholomew and Vincenza Gerosa on Oct 3, Sunday. A special programme was held on the occasion at St. Vincent Convent, Fr. Muller Quarters, Kankanady.

About Sr. Lilly

Sr. Lilly, the last daughter of late Anthony and Alice D’Almeida of St. Joseph’s parish in Belman, Udupi, joined the Sisters of Charity and received her holy orders on March 25, 1986. She began working at Infant Mary’s Convent among the disabled and orphaned at Prashanth Nivas Home for the Aged and later served as a nurse at Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) after her nursing course.

She worked at Bijapur Mission Centre for 6 years, after which she returned to FMMCH and worked in the orthopedic and surgical wards. She is currently working in the medicine ward.

Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI); Fr. Richard Coelho, the FMCI administrator; Fr. Vincent Vijay Saldanha, the assistant administrator; Fr. Felix Monteiro, the FMCI chaplain; Fr. Francis D’Almeida, the professor of St. Aloysius College; Fr. Roque D’Sa, the professor of St. Joseph’s Seminary; Fr. Denis Rasquinha; Fr. Maxim Furtado, the FMCI chaplain; Fr. Rony Serrao, the professor of St. Joseph’s Seminary; and Fr. Joseph Martis, the rector of St. Joseph Seminary celebrated the Holy Mass and wished Sr. Lilly well.


Sr. Sylvia Fernandes, the superior of St. Vincent Convent, welcomed the gathering; Sr. Denny spoke about Sr. Lilly’s religious life; Sr. Jacinta D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks; and Sr. Angeline was the comperer of the programme.
