Mangaluru, May 9, 2025: Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader said that Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) All India Speakers’ Conference will be held in Bengaluru from September 8 to 10.
Speaking to the press in Mangaluru, he revealed that the state had made requests to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for permission to host the event, and it has now been granted. Karnataka is hosting this conference after a gap of 24 years. The conference was held in Delhi last year.
The conference will bring together over 300 to 350 delegates, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, Council Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Secretaries of state legislative assemblies as well as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
The conference will be flagged off at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha on September 8 in the presence of Chief Minister, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and others. All the MLAs in Karnataka will be invited for the inaugural session.
The main proceedings of the conference will be held on September 9 and 10, followed by a visit to a tourist location on the September 11.
“The delegates will be taken for a day either to Mysuru or Mangaluru or Belur Halebidu. The conference venue in Bengaluru is yet to be finalised. The conference is expected to provide a platform for participants from across the country to discuss critical issues affecting respective assemblies, measures to strengthen democracy and so on. The topics for discussion will be finalised after discussing with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Last year, the conference was held at Delhi, added U T Khader.
