Sowjanya case: Committee demands re-probe by CBI; wants assurance from PM

Mangaluru, April 10, 2024: Mahesh Shetty Timarody who is spearheading the movement seeking justice for Sowjanya has urged the state and Union Governments to submit a written opinion in favour of a re-investigation under court supervision in the Sowjanya case. He also said the Prime Minister who will be visiting Mangaluru on April 14 must make an announcement in this regard.

Speaking to reporters at the Press Club, Timarody said if the demand was not met with then NOTA Campaign would be further intensified.

Pointing out that the Karnataka High Court has already issued a notice to the CBI seeking its opinion on the re-investigation into the case, Timarody said the BJP leaders of the coastal districts must convince the Prime Minister and ensure that the CBI give its opinion in favour of a re-probe into the case.

He also requested the Congress government in the state to furnish its opinion in favour of a fresh investigation.

Social activist Prasanna Ravi also spoke.

Anil Kumar, Tammanna Shetty and Manoj were also present.
