The first stage of the muhurat includes the planting of a plantain sapling. Called Bale Muhurat, the planting of sugarcane and tulasi plants in the vacant land of Sodhe Mutt symbolizes abundant supply of groceries and other essentials to prepare free food for the devotees and worship material for the Puja of Lord Krishna. Swami Vishwavallaba Teertha of Sodhe Mutt, the youngest swamiji of Ashta Mutt, planted a plantain sapling for his first Paryaya.

The plantain tree, tulasi plants, and sugarcane shoots, along with titles and flags were placed on Subhadre, the temple elephant, and taken in a procession through Car Street (Ratha Beedi) by temple priests, who later offered puja to deities such as Ananteshwara, Chandreshwara, Krishna Mukhyaprana, and others. The plants were then planted in the vacant land of Sodhe Mutt.

Swami Vishwavallaba Teertha then conducted the muhurat while temple priests chanted mantras and women sang the Laxmi Shobhane. The tulabara of Swami Vishwavallaba Teertha, which included an image of the deity with several kilograms of coins donated by a number of devotees, was held on the occasion. Later, the swami distributed mantrakshate to the devotees and sought the assistance of all for the forthcoming Paryaya that follows the Bale muhurat.
