Mangalore, March 9, 2013 : Eminent writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy winner Boluvar Mohammad Kunhi has regretted that the society was still plagued by caste ailments.
Inaugurating the 9th Students’ Literary Conference organised by the Mangalore University PG Alumni Association at University College, Mangalore on March 9, Saturday, he blamed parents for sowing the seeds of biasedness in the minds of children. At the same time he pointed out that caste superiority has now made inroads into the cultural sphere too.
On the issue of Muslim female students attending schools and colleges wearing ‘burqa,’ he urged other students not to look down upon them but realize that they are braving odds and attending schools and colleges.
Prof. K Chinnappa Gowda, Lecturer, Mangalore University, Dr. H R Laxminarayana Bhatta, Principal, University College, Mangalore and others were present.
