Mangaluru, Nov. 23, 2025: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will participate in the centenary celebration of the historic Narayana Guru–Mahatma Gandhi conversation, scheduled to be held on December 3 at the Mangalore University campus.

Speaking to reporters in Mangaluru on Saturday, MLC B.K. Hariprasad, president of the organising committee, said the event follows the Prime Minister’s recent inauguration of the centenary programme at Shivagiri. The celebrations at Mangalore University will also commemorate the centenary of Narayana Guru’s samadhi and the 100th anniversary of the all-community meet convened by the social reformer.

Shivagiri Mutt president Sathidananda Swami, Mangaluru Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, AICC general secretary and Public Accounts Committee chairperson K.C. Venugopal, and several Ministers are expected to attend. The programme will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the event, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Narayana Guru Study Chair building, constructed at a cost of over ₹1 crore, and lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the project worth ₹3 crore, Mr. Hariprasad said.

Responding to questions about a possible change in the Chief Ministership after November 24, Mr. Hariprasad declined to comment. “You can ask Mr. Venugopal when he is here or AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru,” he added.
