Telangana, Apr 25, 2026: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former chief minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, launched her own political party on Saturday. Kavitha’s new political party has been named “Telangana Rashtra Sena".
Before launching her party, Kavitha paid floral tributes to Martyrs at The Amaraveerula Stupam in Gun Park.
After launching the party, in a post on X, Kavitha said, “Remember The Name: Telangana Rashtra Sena. We refuse to back down, come what may; It is time the people of Telangana have their say. We will not let our aspirations decay; Be reduced to ashes if you dare come in our way. Your Time is Done, Our Time is Now."
While announcing the formation of her new political party, Kavitha said the party aims to carry forward the aspirations of the Telangana movement through a renewed political approach. Addressing supporters, she expressed gratitude to the people, intellectuals and youth of the state, calling the occasion a defining moment in her life.
She highlighted the role of Telangana Jagruthi over the past two decades, particularly in mobilising women through cultural initiatives like the Bathukamma festival, and said these efforts helped strengthen the statehood movement.
At the same time, Kavitha admitted that the Telangana achieved after years of struggle has not met expectations, saying many aspirations remain unfulfilled. She criticised the previous leadership under KCR, alleging that the movement lost direction and governance failed to function as intended, citing issues such as fear among people and illegal activities impacting lives.
Acknowledging her own role in the past, she said an apology alone was insufficient and that corrective action was needed through dedicated work.
Explaining the launch of Telangana Rashtra Sena, she said political power was necessary to carry forward struggles effectively and that the party would work with a clear agenda. She added that the BRS had lost the spirit of Telangana, which led to the emergence of the new party.
Drawing inspiration from past struggles and leaders, she said the party would aim to achieve a socially just Telangana by combining political power with people’s movements.
Kavitha resigned from the BRS and also from her Legislative Council seat after differences with the party leadership seven months ago, and decided to chart her own political course.
The Adhya Convention Centre premises, spread over nearly 20 acres, have been converted into a large meeting venue.
