Bengaluru, June 8, 2025: Shishir H Shetty, a resident of Moodbidri, has emerged as the national topper in the COMEDK 2025 Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET), securing the first rank in the engineering entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka.
Malik Jain from Punjab and Varun J Kumar from Karnataka clinched the second and third ranks, respectively. Notably, Karnataka students dominated the rankings, with four among the top 10 and an impressive 55 securing positions in the top 100.
Of the 11,412 candidates who scored between the 90–100 percentile range, approximately 3,330 are from Karnataka. The exam witnessed participation from 1,13,111 candidates, including 37,715 from Karnataka, out of the 1,31,937 registered. COMEDK UGET 2025 was conducted in two phases on May 10 and May 25 across 179 cities in India.
Following the release of the provisional answer key on May 28, 69 objections were raised, and after review, the final answer key was published on June 4.
Shishir, a student of Excellent PU College, Moodbidri, has an impressive academic record. In addition to topping COMEDK, he achieved an All India Rank of 664 in JEE Advanced, a 99.971 percentile in JEE Mains, the 4th rank in KCET engineering, and the 7th rank in his PU board exams.
Expressing his joy, Shishir said, “I’m extremely happy. I aspire to pursue B.Tech at IISc.” Shishir is the son of Harish Shetty and Sumitha Shetty.
