Mangalore, November 26, 2011: Reverberations 2011, the semi-annual conference of the Toastmasters Club, a 2-day event, was inaugurated this morning at Hotel Ocean Pearl in Kodialbail.
The event has attracted around 287 delegates representing 170 Toastmasters Clubs in South India and Shri Lanka. There were 82 delegates from Shri Lanka. The conference has brought together speakers and leaders from India and Shri Lanka to conduct educational sessions for the delegates. A district-level humorous speech contest and evaluation contest also form part of the event.
M. N. Pai, the chairman of the conference, delivered the welcome address. Zameen M. Saleem, the district governor, inaugurated the conference in a traditional manner by pouring paddy into a wooden cask to the accompaniment of drum beats and clarion calls.
Ed Tate of Colorado USA, the international champion speaker of Toastmasters International, delivered the keynote address and released an eSouvenir edited by Samina Nayak.
After the district-level evaluation contest, Rajan Parulekar, a renowned marketing expert and author of Contextual Selling: A New Sales Paradigm for the 21st Century presented a couple of educational sessions titled How to Sell Toastmaster. Another educational session titled Art of Evaluation in Real Life was presented by Kathivaran Pethi, a Guinness World Record holder for the longest lesson learned and winner of the International Speech contest.
This grand event has been hosted by the five Toastmasters Clubs of Mangalore—Winners Club Toastmasters, Mangalore Toastmasters, INFYnity Toastmasters, ProAct Toastmasters, and Inspiron Toastmasters, under the leadership of M. N. Pai, the chairman of the conference.
