SRS is innocent: Muthalik

Bangalore, May 15: Verbally tearing apart the news channel that had telecast scenes of him accepting money to organize a communal riot, Shri Rama Sene (SRS) chief Pramod Muthalik said that it was a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the outfit.

Muthalik informed reporters on Friday that he was willing to face investigations to prove his innocence. He also said that the organization will sue the TV channel, adding that a police complaint has already been filed.

Claiming that the SRS has become a powerful Hindu force in 10 states, he said that some forces such as the TV channel are trying to tarnish its image. He said that two people had approached him six months ago to help them organize an art exhibition in Mangalore and Bangalore. He said that the scenes showed on TV were from those conversations and had nothing to do with organizing communal riots.

Muthalik admitted that the SRS accepts money from external sources, but only if it is given to protect Hindutva.

The SRS chief filed a complaint in Belgaum on Friday against reporters of Tehelka and Aaj Tak and demanded a probe into their actions.
