Ramanath Rai inaugurates Vanamahotsava at Kadri Park

Mangalore, Aug 2, 2013: State Forest Minister and District in charge Minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the Vanamahotsav programme at Kadri Park, on August 2.Friday.

The event was organized by DK Working Journalists’ Union in association with Mangalore Press Club and Forest Department of Mangalore division.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that the journalists have taken an initiative to observe Vanamahotsava to create awareness on environment protection. Apart from observing the day, every citizen must take the responsibility to nurture the tender plants and look after its growth with affection.

He also said that state level campaign to plant one lakh  saplings under the title ‘Laksha Vraksha Abhiyana’ will begin on August 3. He called upon  various institutions and organizations to join hands with the Forest Department to work for the success of the project.

Clifford Lobo along with other journalists joined in planting the saplings.

DK District Working Journalists’ Union President Harish Rai  and others were present on the occasion.
