Ramanath Rai attacks BJP, praises Jayaprakash Hegde

Mangalore, Mar 1, 2012: Stating that the BJP is a party comprising men of bad character, B. Ramanath Rai, the MLA and president of the DK District Congress Committee, said that people have finally realized this fact and will teach the BJP a lesson during the upcoming Udupi – Chikmagalur Loka Sabha by polls. The Congressman was addressing reporters at a press conference held in the office of the district Congress today. 

He said that K. S. Eshwarappa, the president of the state BJP, has already admitted that the party erred in giving tickets to “bad candidates” in the past, which indicates that the party is in the habit of supporting unworthy people to win the elections. Mr. Rai voiced his opinion that, by admitting that the BJP had supported unworthy candidates in the past, Eshwarappa has proved that the party does give tickets to the wrong people. 

He also expressed his confidence that the Congress will do well in the Udupi – Chikmagalur by polls. Stating that the BJP has not only failed in giving good governance, but has committed grave mistakes, he listed out the BJP’s mistakes, including the porn viewing episode.  Speaking in praise of the Congress candidate, he said that Jayaprakasha Hegde is able and knows a lot about legal matters.

Accusing the BJP of attempting to suppress the media, he said that, although the porn-viewing episode was pulled out into the open by the media, the BJP is making attempts to suppress it.
