Ramakrishna Mutt organizes 3-day seminar on shaping students’ personalities

Mangalore, Sep 27: Dr. H. N. Vishwanatha of Mysore inaugurated a seminar for B. Ed. students, organized by the Shri Ramakrishna Mutt of Mangaladevi Mangalore in the Centenary Vivekananda Building on September 27. A number of internationally acclaimed resource people spoke at the seminar. 


The seminar dealt with the subject of developing students’ personalities. Speaking on the topic Dr. Vishwanatha said that young teachers have to teach and guide future generations for which they need to teach in new languages and face new circumstances with a positive attitude. Teachers have to take the example of great people such as Vivekananda and Gandhi, get inspired by them, and transform students into the thinkers of the future.

Local President Swami Jitakamanandaji welcomed the gathering and spoke of the need for capable and dedicated teachers in society. Urging teachers to discard their inferiority complex, he said that they need to develop a strong will and dedication to build a new nation. When teachers are proud of being teachers, they will be honoured unasked, he declared. The swami also said that a positive mental attitude give teachers the ability to develop their students’ personalities.


All persons who climb to great heights in life should understand that they could reach those heights only because of their teachers, said the swamiji. He also urged achievers to be grateful to their teachers. The swamiji said that the profession of a teacher is sacred and that teachers ought to be honoured for their sacrifices. 


Sujir Prabhakar distributed free text books to poor students in the event. The 3-day seminar will be marked by talks and presentations by internationally acclaimed resource persons and scholars for B. Ed., engineering, and MSW students. 


Lokayukta N. Santhosh Hegde is expected to attend the seminar on September 28.
