Perla: Auto driver killed after car rams rickshaw

Kasaragod, Sep 11, 2025: A tragic accident claimed the life of an auto-rickshaw driver after his vehicle was hit by a car and overturned on the main road at Perla town around 8:30 pm on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Narayana Moolya (67), a resident of Maniyampare and an auto driver from the Sheni Baredala area.

The accident occurred near Sheni School when he was returning after dropping a patient, a resident of Maniyampare, at a private hospital in Perla. A car coming from behind rammed into his rickshaw, causing it to overturn.

Narayana sustained severe injuries and breathed his last on the way to the hospital. Co-passengers in the rickshaw also suffered serious injuries.

Narayana was one of the key founders of the Sheni Ayyappa Temple and served as the chief Guruswamy, guiding devotees during the Ayyappa mala rituals.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, and a large circle of relatives and well-wishers.
