Over 20 Injured as Private Bus Overturns at Charmadi Ghat

Beltangady, Apr 26, 2026: More than 20 passengers were injured after a private bus overturned at the fourth curve of Charmadi Ghat on Sunday.
According to reports, the bus was travelling from Ujire towards Kottigehara when the driver allegedly lost control at a sharp hairpin bend, causing the vehicle to flip over.
The injured passengers, mostly residents of Andhra Pradesh and Pavagada in Tumakuru district, were returning home after attending a wedding.
Fellow commuters and passersby rushed to the scene and assisted in rescuing the injured. The victims were shifted to nearby hospitals and also to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment.
Beltangady traffic police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.
