Three held with MDMA worth Rs 24 lakh in Mudipu

Mangaluru, Sep 27, 2026: The City Crime Branch (CCB) arrested three persons allegedly involved in the sale of MDMA and seized 240 grams of the synthetic drug, valued at around Rs 24 lakh, near Mudipu on Saturday evening.

The arrested were identified as Nawaz alias Navva alias Mudipu Nawaz, 35, Mohammed Arif N, 36, and Lloyd D’Souza, 35, all from Kairangala, Mudipu.

City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said the CCB acted on information that the accused were procuring MDMA from Bengaluru and selling it in Mangaluru, allegedly targeting the public and students. The operation was conducted near Kayargoli Cross in Mudipu, Ullal taluk.

Police also seized four mobile phones and a tempo allegedly used to transport the drugs. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 29.8 lakh.

A case has been registered at the Konaje police station, and further investigation is under way.

According to police, Nawaz has around 16 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the city, including cases related to assault, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, kidnapping, rape, cheating, cattle theft and drug peddling. Of these, 12 cases are registered at Konaje, two at Ullal, and one each at Mulki and Surathkal. Four cases—two each at Ullal and Konaje—are related to drug peddling.

Police suspect that more people are involved in the drug supply and transportation network and are working to identify and arrest them.
