Organizations across Mangaluru Celebrates International Day of Yoga with Enthusiasm

Mangaluru, June 22, 2025: The International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great fervor across Mangaluru on Saturday, June 21, with institutions and organizations hosting diverse events promoting physical and mental well-being.

The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) inaugurated a Yoga Park on its premises as part of the celebrations. NMP Mahila Samaj president Sushma Akkaraju opened the park in the presence of Port Authority Chairman A.V. Ramana and senior officers. Designed to foster health and wellness, the park includes a walking track and an open space for yoga practice. Participants performed yoga under the Common Yoga Protocol as part of the "Yoga Sangam" initiative. Chairman A.V. Ramana emphasized the transformative power of yoga in achieving holistic health and encouraged employees to adopt it as a daily practice. The port also conducted week-long wellness activities, including Y-Break Yoga sessions and lifestyle workshops.

Konkan Railway Corporation Limited celebrated the day at Konkan Rail Vihar, Nerul, in collaboration with Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir. Executives, staff, and their families participated in the session, highlighting the integration of yoga into daily life. Similar events were organized at Ratnagiri and Karwar, where Chairman Santosh Kumar Jha emphasized the importance of yoga for overall well-being.

At Mangaluru International Airport, a yoga session was held in the domestic arrival hall. Yoga instructors Kumar Shenoy and Skanda S. Navada guided stakeholders, including CISF personnel and airline staff, in practices prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush. They also engaged passengers, explaining yoga’s benefits and teaching simple breathing techniques and mudras.

In an innovative display, 40 swimmers performed yogasanas in the Mangala Swimming Pool, organized by the Mangaluru City Corporation.

Land Trades Builders & Developers hosted a yoga workshop at their Milestone25 property at Balmatta, themed "Work with Yoga." The session focused on integrating yoga into professional routines and attracted occupants, guests, and yoga enthusiasts.

Expert PU College also joined the celebrations with a unique yoga session led by Gopalakrishna Delampady at Kodialbail. The performance, accompanied by a soulful sitar recital by IT Department Director Ankush N. Nayak, created a serene and meditative ambiance for the participants.


Yoga day at St Aloysius University


St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with NCC, NSS, YRC, Delampadi Yoga Foundation, and Decathlon, organized the 11th International Yoga Day under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Addressing the gathering, chief guest Swami Jitakamananda Maharaj of Ramakrishna Math highlighted that yoga, which originated in India, has become a global practice and serves as a method for developing a holistic personality by balancing the body, mind, and energy. Presiding over the event, Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis emphasized the importance of yoga for achieving a stress-free life and inner tranquility, reaffirming the university’s commitment to encouraging yoga among its students. The program also featured Neeta Shetty, Yoga Director of Delampadi Yoga Foundation, who guided participants through yoga asanas, supported by university yoga students Roshani Shenoy and Sanvi Shetty.
