Bangalore, Oct 24, 2013 : State Home Minister KJ George has said that there was no need to entrust the investigation into Sowjanya murder case to the CBI.
The Home Minister spoke to reporters after reviewing the progress of investigation by the CID into the case. “The Congress was not in power when the incident took place.
The Congress government decided to change the investigation officer only after the local MLA Vasanth Bangera complained in the House that the investigation officer was not doing his duty efficiently,” George said.
The Home Minister said there was no pressure on the government from any corner with regard to the investigation and clarified that neither he nor the CM have interfered.”I have also enquired with the CID officials if they were under pressure and they have replied in the negative,” he informed.
The Minister said the investigation has picked up and the report would be submitted soon. “Let us openly discuss the issue then,” he said.
