Mangalore, Dec 19,2011: Based on a tip off, the city’s special police forest mobile squad led by sub-inspector K R Manjunath seized nine rare species of tortoise from a man near Narikombu in Bantwal Taluk on Saturday, October 17, 2011.
The arrested was identified as Rajesh Kumar (38). A case has been registered under the Wildlife protection act and investigation is on.
The raid was conducted by Manjunath ,PSI, Forest Squad Mangalore along with police personnel HC Seetharam, Umesh Hosalike, Honnappa Gowda, Narayan, and Harishchandra Gowda under the direction of Nisar Ahmed, IGP Bangalore CID Forest Squad and police commissioner forest squad of Madikeri A R Aquaker. .
