National Women’s Front condemns ’harassment’ of Muslim students on pretext of Hijab

Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2022: Zulaikha Bajpe, District President of National Women’s Front has condemend the  mental harassment meted out to high school Muslim girl students on the pretext of Hijab.

Speaking to reporters here,  she strongly condemned the attitude of some school administrations and teachers in mentally torturing the Muslim girl students on the pretext of the interim judgement of the Karnataka High Court on the Hijab row.

She said the High Court has stated that its interim order is applicable to Pre-University Colleges, still Muslim girl students and teachers are made to remove their burqa and hijab in public places, she alleged.

Referring to many incidents in different parts of the state wherein students were sent back for wearing Hijab, she said such irresponsible acts which  come in the way of the fundamental right to education of the children are condemnable.

Ashika, Convenor of Karavali Mahila Hakkugala Vedike thanked the school committees and teachers of DK for ensuring there was no confusion over the issue.

Corporator Shamshad Aboobakker, Bantwal Councillor Zeenath Bantwal, Mumtaz Vittal and others were present.
