Mangalore, Sep 30, 2013 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated in clear terms that no scope would be given for moral policing in the coastal districts.
Addressing a party workers meet at the Rosario Auditorium on September 29, Sunday during his maiden visit to the city after assuming charge as CM, Siddaramaiah said officials have been issued strict instructions to deal moral policing with an iron hand. There is no need for the public to fear, the CM assured amid thunderous applause.
Referring to the crop loss suffered by areca growers, the CM said the compensation provided by Union Government was very less and added the state government would provide higher compensation as per the suggestion of former union minister Janardhan Poojari.
On Ettinahole project, the CM said there is a wrong notion among many that this is a Netravathi river diversion project. He said it was not so and added he would hold a separate meeting with all elected representatives and organizations opposing the project.
There is no need for fear as the Ettinahole project would be implemented in a scientific manner, the CM said.
On the compensation package for Endosulfan victims, the CM said an announcement would soon be made.
He said dedicated and sincere party men will be appointed to various boards and corporations as per the recommendations of the district Congress committees.
Giving a clarion call to the party men to strive to ensure a victory for the Congress in the Mangalore Lok Sabhha constituency in the next elections, he urged party workers to take up this task as a challenge. The CM said he would be visiting Mangalore next month again.
Several party leaders including Union Minister, Oscar Fernandes. Former union minister Janardhana Poojary, DK-District in-charge Minister Ramanattha Rai, Udupi District in-charge minister Vinayakumar Soreke, Health Minister, U T Khader and others were present.
