Moily visits Perne tanker tragedy site; interacts with affected families

Mangalore, April 20, 2013 : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily visited Perne in Uppinangady which recently saw the worst ever LPG tanker mishap which claimed ten lives. Moily met the  members of the bereaved families as well as those who lost their livelihood and houses.


Moily 1 Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Moily said the oil companies alone cannot be blamed for such incidents. 


Even transporters and insurance firms are legally responsible for such incidents, he said and added discussions are being held with the oil companies on the assistance they can provide to the affected families on humanitarian grounds.



Moily however refused to speak much on the issue in view of the poll code of conduct.
