Mangalore, Sept. 23, 2012: Criticizing the BJP government for criticizing PM Manmohan Singh for commenting on the Cauvery water issue, M. Veerappa Moily, union corporate affairs minister, said that it is not fair on the part of the BJP to criticize the PM and challenged the state government to take the issue to the Supreme Court.
Speaking in defense of the central government’s move to permit FDI in Indian retail market, he alleged that the BJP and the Trinamool Congress are objecting only because they want to gain politically. Alleging that FDI was part of the Trinamool Congress’ agenda, he said that the party is now opposing FDI for political gains. He said that FDI in retail market will greatly benefit the farmers and common people in India.
In response to a reporter’s query, Mr. Moily said that the Congress will not welcome B. S. Yeddyurappa under any circumstances because the Congress has no place for opportunistic and caste-minded people.
Later, speaking at a district-level youth convention organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Moily said that India will become a nation of the youth in the next 25 years. He urged the youth to develop the nationalistic spirit and become the nation’s social and political power.
