Meta Deactivates Social Media Pages Following Mangaluru Police Action on Inflammatory Content

Mangaluru, May 25, 2025: Meta has deactivated four Instagram accounts and one Facebook page across India after Mangaluru City Police flagged them for spreading inflammatory content. The move follows investigations into multiple cases registered within the city.

In a press release, Mangaluru Police confirmed that a case had been registered at Urwa Police Station concerning inflammatory posts on Instagram accounts vhp_bajrangadal_ashoknagar and shankha_nada.

Similarly, individual cases were registered at Kavoor and Mangaluru South police stations against the Instagram accounts dj_bharath_2008 and karaavali_official, respectively.

Another case was registered at Barke Police Station for objectionable content posted on the Facebook page of Ashiq Maicala.

All cases were probed by the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotic Crime (CEN) Police. Based on their findings, Mangaluru City Police submitted a formal request to Meta, leading to the deactivation of the accounts nationwide.

With these latest actions, a total of six Instagram accounts and one Facebook page have been deactivated at the request of Mangaluru Police, the release added.
