Mangalore, Aug 24, 2013: A national-level Children’s Festival Shri Krishna Vesha Competition will be held at Kadri Shri Manjunatha Temple on August 28, Wednesday, said Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of Kalkura Prathishtana.

Speaking at the press meet held on August 24, Saturday, he said that the competition will be held at 8 venues—Shri Krishna Janmamahotsava Samithi Main State, Abhishek Hall First and Second Floor, Manjushree, Shri Ganapathy Temple, Kalyana Mantapa, and Near Kadri Kere Ashwatta Katte. While the competition will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., cultural programs will be held from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

The 18 categories of contest are as follows: Kanda Krishna for kids below the age of one, Muddu Krishna for children below the age of two (mothers can accompany children on stage), Thunta Krishna for children in the age group of 2 – 3, Bala Krishna for nursery and LKG kids, Kishora Krishna for UKG and Std. I kids, Shri Krishna for kids from Std. II, Std. III, and Std. IV, Geetha Krishna for children upto Std. VII (create Geethopadesha situation with costumes), Yaksha Krishna for children till Std. X (required to wear Yakshagana costumes), Radha Krishna and Yashoda Krishna for women and children up to 12 years of age, Shankanada with traditional costumes in two categories for kids up to Std. VII, Shankha Udgosha for children above Std. VII and open for with traditional costume.

Devaki Krishna for mothers and their children, and Vasudeva Krishna for parents (men or women) and their children (no plastic baskets  allowed). Nanda Gokula has been organised to encourage groups of 5 people of any age group to present an episode from the life of Lord Krishna.  There is no age limit for this contest.

Besides, a Bala Krishna quiz competition for students upto Std VII  and Shri Krishna Quiz will be held for children above Std. VII, which do not need traditional costume. Apart from it a special category has been introduced titled ‘Krishna Photography’ which requires participants in   Krishna with attractive poses. Each participant can take part in 2-3 categories.

Kadri Navneeth Shetty spoke on the occasion and said that each participant will receive a panchaloha idol of Udupi Kadegolu Krishna, a certificate, a copy of  Bhagavadgita, a cloth bag, and prizes. The organizers will also serve hot milk, ice cream, and peda to the children.
